Have a short and rather informal survey of what type of driver do my friends hat e the most, I was quite surprised with the results. Whilst I was expecting to hear the shout s and cat-calls of "aggressive drivers", "Slow drivers" and "People who don't indicate at roundabouts", all I got was a resounding call of "BMW Drivers!" When questioning the group further I discovered that this group of drivers had been singled out as hate figures as for most of the people I was talking to, they encompassed every bad driving trait in one rather annoying package. I decided to get out in my car and do some research of my own.
I have been driving for many years, so have experienced my own fair share of bad drivers, even causing me to be involved in a couple of accidents along the way. I had never really taken too much notice of what car they were driving though, these observations had always been clouded in a haze of rage and shaken fists.
Sure enough, as I approached a rather large roundabout leading to a major motorway near where I live, I was overtaken at breakneck speed by a rather smug looking man in a brand new BMW Z4. Entering the roundabout at that speed was either going to cause an injury to himself or some hapless, careful driver who happened to get in his way. All of a sudden I started to agree with my friends.
There must be a certain amount of jealousy involved in this demonization of one particular breed of car owner. After all, by and large the BMW models currently available are pretty much head and shoulders above their relative competition in almost every way. I have even been toying with buying myself a Use BMW M5, but I know my friends would never forgive me!
